I thought it might be nice to post some of the things I have saved away of Jas’s. They are treasures now and bring me comfort.

This first picture is the cabinet I bought for his things. There’s shelves with doors on the bottom to keep things i dont need to display. I keep my favorite dream catcher hanging on the front. At night the fan blows the chimes and it is very peaceful.

Here is another pic with the doors open...

Top shelf includes the flip flops he was wearing in the crash, his 21st birthday cards, his shot glass collection, his coke glasses he was collecting as well as his baby book.

This shelf has his last 2 bottles of IBC rootbeer, his fav, and his mike’s hard lemonade. The scrapbook has all the cards we received. The drum sticks ironically just arrived last week. He obviously ordered them quite a while ago. The vase in the corner was my mothers day present from him. I stuck a rose in it. Also some of his game cases, his extra xbox headset an the guest registry.

The bottom shelf is the most precious. His urn with his iphone in front of it (Matt said that was a must). His middle school yearbooks and his graduation year yearbook called "My Own Legacy". His electric razor, his POTC watch, and the little pink heart dish he brought home for me just days before the crash. I put his bottle cap collection in there. And his AXE.. had to have axe!! His last shopping list i have too along with other important papers.

I put the front page article about him in a frame and filled in the boring spots with some of his awards.

Daylce’s Mom, Denise bought Jason a star. Such a beautiful gift. I treasure it. Here is the registry.

Im not sure where to look for it. Makes my head spin. Maybe someone can help point me in the right direction.

Here is a link to the full size chart. If you click on it, it shows everything. I want to know where it is...

Tonight Allie and I were sitting on the floor playing Wii. Maya was crawling around on the floor in front of us and Chris was sleeping on the couch. The remote was on the ottoman behind us. The receiver was on so we could hear it through the speakers. All of a sudden the receiver switched to the radio. It is possible the dog hit it, but I know it wasn’t any of us and I really don’t think it was the dog. Anyway Citrus 95 was on and a song was just starting. I thought it was weird so I listened to it. The song was "We Weren’t Born to Follow" by Bon Jovi. I had never heard it before. Haven’t been much of a Bon Jovi fan since I was 11. But I listened to every word then went to find the lyrics. I don’t know if it was a fluke and it somehow got hit and I didn’t see it, or if it was a sign, but it was definitely very strange. I wondered for a second if Jas was here.

You can hear the song here, and the lyrics are below. (If I did it right)
We Weren’t Born To Follow

We Weren’t Born To Follow Lyrics

This one goes out to the man who mines for miracles
This one goes out the ones in need
This one goes out the sinner and the cynical
This ain’t about no apology
This road was paved by the hopeless and the hungry
This road was paved by the winds of change
Walking beside the guilty and the innocent
How will you raise your hand when they call your name?

Yea, Yea, Yea,
We Weren’t born to follow
Come on and get up off your knees
When life is a bitter pill to swallow
You gotta hold on to what you believe
Believe that the sun will shine tomorrow
And that your saints and sinners bleed
We weren’t born to follow
You gotta stand up for what you believe
Let me hear you say
Yea, Yea, Yea, ooooohhh,, Yea

This ones about anyone who does it differently
This ones about the one who cusses and spits
This ain’t about our living in a fantasy
This ain’t about giving up or giving in

Yea, Yea, Yea,
We Weren’t born to follow
Come on and get up off your knees
When life is a bitter pill to swallow
You gotta hold on to what you believe
Believe that the sun will shine tomorrow
And that your saints and sinners bleed
We weren’t born to follow
You gotta stand up for what you believe
Let me hear you say
Yea, Yea, Yea, ooooohhh,, Yea

Let me hear you say
Yea, Yea, Yea, oooohhhhh, Yea

goosebump material on that one...wow! I got some for ya too, Trish. I texted this to Matt last night, it was weirdly coincidental. Anthony (for those who don’t know, he’s another one of our cousins), me, Mallory (Ant’s g/f) & Steven (my b/f) were sitting at a wing place last night discussing what we wanted to do for Labor Day (today). We were kicking around going to Gennie Springs and Weeki Wachee for drifting down the spring water. Then our conversation switched to family and how we all used to be so close & how we missed that & because of stupid things (i.e. distance, money issues, etc.). We started talking about Jason and immediately we decided we were going back to Rainbow Springs to have some family-ish fun & I texted Trish, Matt, Mike & Aunt Gail to see if they could (albeit last minute...literally at like 10PM or so) go too. Crazy-weird-coincidentaly moment coming here: at the EXACT moment that Matt & Trish texted me back, Ant’s cell phone rang from a friend calling...and get this: Ant’s ring tone was SUPER MARIO BROTHERS from Nintendo! Ant was never told that Jason had this ring tone, I remember Matt/Mike had recorded this ring tone for him & it totally stopped me in mid-conversation & immediately shot goosebumps all up & down my body. Anthony couldn’t believe it either! I sincerely believe, with all my heart & soul, that Jason is telling all of us that he is still here...never truly left us...and giving us signs to say "hello." I literally texted Matt back this stuff...just HAD to share it! We L-O-V-E you Jason!

when trish told me about this happening i knew she had to post it. It gave me goodebumps. Every time somehting like this happens there is always either a message in the words of a song, like tricia’s experience, or the one you just shared jan. Sorry for not texting back. I meant to soon as I had a minute. Still sorting through all Jason’s things.

Did Dalyce ever post about her dream? If not, I think you should Dal.

What’s even crazier is... The only reason that song is playing on Citrus 95.3 is because of me.

Last Monday during our music meeting, I brought up that the new Bon Jovi was released and I thought we should be playing it since it debuted pretty high on the charts and my boss and the other guy who is part of the meeting hated it but I argued and argued my point, explaining that they’re the only band who has had continued success since the hair band days. From Runaway, to Livin’ On a Prayer, Wanted Dead or Alive to It’s My Life, Who Says You Can’t Go Home, and now this.

They absolutely hated the song but I kept arguing for it, I kept saying it was a hit and I won the battle and we added it to our playlist and it’s been in rotation since Friday. If it wasn’t for me working here, that song would not even be playing on the radio.

And the weirdest part is, part of the reason I was pushing it so hard was because despite all the hard ass music Jason was into, he actually had A LOT of Bon Jovi on his iPod. So in my mind, I was pushing a "Jason" song. I’ve been listening to all the music from his actual iPod the past few weeks and he only had about 200 songs, but he has:

Livin’ On a Prayer
You Give Love a Bad Name
It’s My Life
Wanted Dead or Alive

Considering what kinda (bad ass and very heavy) music he was into, these songs are REALLY out of place and every time one of these songs would start playing off his iPod in the car I’d start laughing and be like "wtf I didn’t know he liked Bon Jovi"

Lastly - Jason had Guitar Hero 5 preordered. The last time I saw him, I gave him the Game Spot gift card I owed him for his birthday. Well he never had a chance to use it... I guess he planned on using it to get Guitar Hero 5. So that’s exactly what I put it towards... and when it came out on Tuesday I went and picked it up and paid for the rest of it (which wasn’t much because he only put 10 dollars down >:O lol)

So few days later I’m playing the game and I get to a song I didn’t even know was in the game "Bon Jovi - You Give Love a Bad Name."

And this was like, right after I realized he had all these Bon Jovi songs on his iPod so I really felt like I was playing this song for Jason because I knew he was really looking forward to playing that song. You always look forward to playing the songs you know in those games because half you’ve never heard of before and it’s always the most fun playing songs you know and like.

So with all that happening, and then to come on the group this morning and see there’s a post about the Bon Jovi song that I fought tooth and nail to get played on our station and to see what happened with it... Is just plain freakin crazy.

Not to mention these small personal connections I’ve had with Jason and Bon Jovi the past week... I think I even mentioned to Ashley how weird it was Jason was into Bon Jovi. And now all this... very, very weird.

Small Footnote: Not sure if I made this clear or not but the station that played the song through Trish’s receiver was my station and the song wouldn’t even be playing if I didn’t fight for it on Monday. So weird to see this happened!

Just wanted to make sure that crazy fact was clear! Just a bit creepy.

Holy crap!!! That does make it even weirder. I thought about it all night replaying it in my head and I really don’t think anyone hit it. I know no one was near the receiver, so the only possibility was the remote but the dog would have had to hit the right button on the remote and she doesn’t jump up there. All too coincidental to be nothing.

Just a few pics I found of Jason on his laptop. I’m still battling with it to actually work so I can go through it, but I’ve got a ton of stuff going on and my own laptop is screwed up so I’m slowed down on finding more stuff. But I thought these were pretty awesome. When I look at these pictures, somehow, I am able to laugh.

Moment of Thanks...

This group is to remember Jason but i was thinking about it today and I believe everyone who touched his life helped make him the person he was.

He was unique, and had a heart of gold, an a sense of humor that was so great, but his life was us, all of us. I would like to personaly thank each and every one of you who was a part of his life. Id like to thank his friends for every smile you gave him, the laughter, the fun, the frienship.

His family, brothers and sisters, he loved you all so much and we had so much fun when we were all together.

Even his memorial, the support we recieved was amazing. My children were strong and brave. Vince (Jasons Dad) made it all possible. We never could have done all we did to honor Jason without his help.

This group, keeping his memory alive, sharing stories and photos, is such a tremendous help, and I believe binds us together as one. I know Jason would be honored.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Matt: Aug 24, 2009 3:37 PM
Very nice Mom... Perfectly said. Really great job.

But I think we should all be thanking you... Because without you, we would have had no Jason in the first place. And I can say, without a single doubt, that we wouldn’t be the same people we are today without Jason. I know, speaking for myself, that I wouldn’t be the person I am without him and I know he made me a better person because of him.

I know a lot of people would agree, so I say, thank YOU. (And Dad, of course)

Trish: Aug 24, 2009 4:38 PM
I agree with everything Matt said. Thank YOU mom and dad for giving us Jason in the first place.

Mike:  Aug 25, 2009 8:00 PM

Well said Matt. Thanks Dad and Mom. I’d just like to add that not only are we better people now because of him, we continue to be better people everyday because of him. The day Jason died the worst parts of me died with him. I will live everyday as a positive light on his life. I promised him that and I promise everyone else that.

every time i go to make an announcement, i can’t help but think of what i said almost every night i closed: "Jason, Red Line, please." i’d make jokes, or tell you something a customer did that i thought was odd or funny.

Then you got your iPhone with that stupid shotgun. i thought it was the silliest thing, but you loved showing it off.

i remember going to the park after work and just sitting there, looking up at the stars, talking about family, about how much work sucked, and anything else we could think of.

I know when I worked there, and I did the daily walk from the front doors, down isle 11 **At the time** to the backroom to punch in and down to the meat dept I seen Jason everytime!! Always had a smile on his face, and always went out of his way to say hello... When he came back to the meat dept to give me a go back, damage product, or even get a price of a turkey, he would always have a smile... No matter what.

It is hard for me to even go in Winn Dixie. I have, but it feels very weird. Even though he hadn’t worked in the Beverly Hills store for a little while it is still weird. Allie always asked if Uncle Jason was working when we went to that store. She’d get excited when she saw him and then play shy. In the end he always got "five" though.
